Syria: 10 years after his abduction, Bishop Hanna Jallouf is a shepherd close to his flock

As the bishop of Latin rite Catholics in Syria, the Franciscan Hanna Jallouf is very familiar with the situation in Idlib Governorate, the last rebel stronghold, where he served as a pastor for 22 years until his appointment as bishop, in September 2023. In a conversation with an ACN delegation, he reports on the challenges for Christians who have remained there.

€2 million for 1,600 Catholic summer camps worldwide

This year more than 1,600 summer camps for young people are taking place in 18 countries ─ from Egypt and Jordan to Iraq, Georgia and Kazakhstan – thanks to funding by Aid to the Church in Need (ACN) in the amount of almost 2 million euros. These camps hope to provide hope and joy, and teach a reliance on faith in the most difficult situations.

Pope blesses 6,000 rosaries for Syria

As well as a Rosary blessed by the pope, each family will be given a Bible in Arabic, also provided by ACN, a crucifix from the Syriac Orthodox Church and a prayer to Our Lady of Sorrows, Consoler of Syrians.
