ACN Ireland gives thanks for the life of Bro. Kevin Crowley RIP

Author: Michael Kelly.

Bro. Kevin Crowley greets Pope Francis on his trip to Ireland in 2018.

It was with deep sadness, but profound gratitude to God for a life well lived in the service of the Gospel that ACN learnt about the death of Bro. Kevin Crowley OFM Cap.

Bro. Kevin served the poor and the powerless in Dublin’s north inner-city for many decades through the Capuchin Day Centre. At a time of increased prosperity, Bro. Kevin shone a light on those who were left behind and were still suffering poverty and indignity despite the huge wealth around them. He knew too that only God could slake the deep spiritual poverty that afflicts so many.

A disciple of St Francis, Bro. Kevin saw Christ in everyone – especially those most vulnerable. His compassion and mercy had no limits. He was a powerful advocate for the pro-life cause, and never shied away from speaking up for the unborn – he saw these children as much in need of love and compassion as those already born who he served.

Above all, Bro. Kevin was a man of God who lived his life of selfless service with prayerful devotion and love. He was a powerful advocate for the voiceless: whether the unborn, the poor, the sick, the homeless, the powerless, the addict or the elderly.

He is a powerful witness to us of the many priests and religious brothers and sisters who live lives of quiet service with the world’s most vulnerable communities. ACN Ireland is proud of our mission to support such heroic workers in the ‘Vineyard of the Lord’.

May the angels lead you into paradise; Bro. Kevin, may the martyrs receive you at your arrival and lead you to the holy city Jerusalem. May choirs of angels receive you and with Lazarus, once a poor man, may you have eternal rest.
